Cotton grown in Egypt has a long staple length of over 2¼". The length of fibres ensure that very fine yarns can be spun from Egyptian cotton, which is turn can be woven into dense constructions of sheeting cloths. English Weavers use exclusively long staple Egyptian cotton in their manufacturing processes.
Peter Reed ( Textiles ) Ltd. use only carded, combed or super combed yarns in their weaving production processes. Prior to spinning, the cotton crop is carded or combed to remove a high percentage of the shorter fibres in the crop which ensures that the yarns are spun from only the longest fibres present in the cotton harvest.
